This is the text of the Code of Practice that all members of SPVP agree to abide by.
- Please remember that as a member of a professional organisation it is expected that at all times, you will maintain the highest standards applicable to the Society.
- Members will conduct their business in a professional manner, dress appropriately to the occasion and will not at any time act in a negative fashion that will reflect adversely on the profession or the Society.
- Registered members who employ assistants will be responsible for their conduct.
- Registered members represent the Society and will be expected to treat each client with honesty and fairness, assuring satisfaction and providing them with agreed services as requested by the client.
- In the event of a dispute, the Registered Member shall accept the right of the client to access to the Arbitration Panel of the SPVP. The member also has the right to voice their side of the story and to put their case to the panel. The decision of the Arbitration Panel is final and shall be binding to both parties.
- Members should be aware of copyright laws governing the recording of church services, music and the dubbing of copyright music on to clients video tapes.
The member should ensure that licences covering such copyright recording are sourced before filming commences.
- Registered Members negotiating commissions should ensure that the client is informed of the terms and conditions applicable at the time of acceptance of the commission.
- Members will endeavour to maintain a professional relationship with other members in a spirit that will promote the reputation and well being of the Society.
- The payment of membership fees are due on joining the Society. In the following year after joining the Society renewal subscriptions will be due on the 1st July, with payments on a sliding scale in the first year depending on the month of joining.
